Introduction
Welcome to the October 2026 newsletter for 42 Hastings Road, West Ealing. This newsletter provides an update on the progress of the development. The new 17-storey building will provide 430 student accommodation beds, alongside public realm improvements for the wider community to enjoy. Tide Construction is pleased to confirm that construction works are progressing well and safe on site.
Background
The student accommodation building is replacing the former Majestic Wine warehouse previously located on the site.
Development News
The project is currently in the modular installation phase, with units being installed up to Level 16. These works are scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2026.
Upon completion of the modular installation, site traffic and delivery movements will reduce significantly. Compared with traditional construction methods, the use of modular construction provides a safer, more efficient, and faster approach to building, helping to minimise disruption to the local community.
Residents will continue to notice visible changes to the building as additional modules are installed and façade works progress. To support the cladding installation, mast climbers and scaffolding are also being erected around the building.
We remain on programme to complete the development in time for students to move into their new accommodation in September 2027.
Community engagement
Tide employees continue to work in partnership with residents to help maintain and improve the Oasis Garden, located close to the site. This initiative strengthens community relationships while contributing to the enhancement of local green spaces.
Traffic marshals are regularly cleaning the external site perimeter along Hastings Road and Drayton Green Road to maintain a safe, tidy, and presentable environment for the local community.
In addition, the project team purchases fresh fruit from local businesses every second week for the site workforce. This not only supports employee wellbeing but also helps boost the local economy by investing in nearby independent suppliers.
We would also like to remind everyone that an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is available on site and is registered with the Circuit National Defibrillator Network, allowing emergency services to locate it immediately if required. The AED is available for use in the event of a cardiac emergency and can be accessed by all site personnel as well as residents.
We’re delighted to provide a dog hydration station outside the site, offering fresh drinking water for our four-legged friends and helping make the local area a more welcoming and enjoyable place for everyone in our community.
We would like to thank residents and businesses for their continued patience, support, and cooperation as construction progresses.
